EDFI ElectriFI is a specialist equity and debt financing facility for renewable energy companies active on- and off-grid in emerging markets.

Instruments
Equity, quasi-equity, junior/senior debt, or guarantee, both at corporate and project level. ElectriFI does not provide grants, concessional loans, or other low-cost capital.

Business models

Typical business models include mini-grids, solar home systems, independent power projects (IPP) and captive power production.

Ticket size
From 0.5 to 10 million euros; capped at 50% of the project cost / funding round.

Additionality and catalyst role
Funding additional to what is offered by other market players (DFIs, impact investors, banks) and thus catalyse co- or future investments.

Flexible structuring
Flexible terms, risk profile, currency (USD, EUR or local).

Commercial terms
Pricing and return expectations subject to business model, stage of the company, track-record, country risk, technology risk and overall fund targets – but always reflecting market rates.
